Rachel Malik is a writer. Her first novel, Miss Boston and Miss Hargreaves was published by Penguin in 2017. Set during the 1940s and 50s and based on the stranger than fiction life of her grandmother, the novel was shortlisted for the Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction this year. Prior to this, Rachel worked for 18 years as an academic at Middlesex University, teaching English Literature and writing about how the 19th century novel was written, published and read. She lives in London with her husband and son and is currently working on her second novel.
