Doctor Who and the Sound of Fear

“Listen to that! That’s the sound of this planet screaming out its rage!” – The Third Doctor, Inferno (1970)

Join Doctor Who composer Mark Ayres and writer Simon Guerrier for a fantastic voyage into the strange, unearthly sounds of space and time. Discover how the extraordinary Doctor Who theme tune was realised – years before the invention of the synthesiser – and how that pioneering work is still used in the series today. Find out what goes into iconic effects like the TARDIS materialising and the voice of the Daleks. And then help Mark and Simon dream up the opening of a completely new adventure filled with terrifying, alien sounds!

Families welcome.

Monies raised from this event will go to Get Hastings Reading, a campaign to raise awareness of the importance of literacy whilst building community capacity to tackle literacy issues. The campaign launched in 2019 thanks to a partnership between the National Literacy Trust and the Department for Education’s Opportunity Area in Hastings.
