Ed Boxall’s full length collection of children’s poetry ‘Me and My Alien Friend’ is published by Troica Books in September 2018. The book is full of sorts of friends: best friends, changing friends, absent friends, animal friends, imaginary friends, and even a friend who is a ‘Thing on A Springy String’.
The collection is both written and illustrated by Ed.
Join Ed for a special performance that brings a selection of the poems to life with music, projections, giant pictures and lots of audience activities.
Ed performs some of the more gentle poems with atmospheric projections, using an old fashioned projector to create a ‘magic lantern’ atmosphere. Other poems have been turned into songs- some loud and raucous and some dreamy and thoughtful.
The performance is followed by practical activities inspired by the book. Children will create their own alien friend using a mix of collage, drawing and printing. There will also be lots of playful writing activities to try such as writing letters to their alien friend or a diary of their visit to their alien’s planet.
All welcome but it is ideal for children from 4 to 12 years old.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Online ticket sales for this event are closed.
